A new settlement is planned on Stora Möja island in the Stockholm archipelago. Two rows of terraced houses are placed on a hill north-west of the church. The proposal preserves the typical archipelago nature of shrubs and rocky outcrops, and the ambition is to intervene in nature as little as possible.
The houses follow the plot's height differences. It is accessed by vehicle via a gravel road that connects northwards to an existing road. No communal parking is provided, but vehicles can be parked along the roadway.
The design of the houses is based on traditional timber construction and will be simple two-storey terraced houses. The buildings form a shared, sunlit courtyard around the hillside, where there is space to play or socialise with neighbours. Each house has a private terrace facing the evening sun in the west. Large barn doors can be opened to protect from the neighbours' view.
The houses accommodate about 20 homes and are designed for rational construction. The larger wing provides space for communal areas such as storage, bicycle parking or a workshop.
